Mind Your Body TV Episode 47 with Dia Dibble.
The stars you see on television and film don’t put a big toe out their front door without being “done” first. Most have a personal trainer, nutritionist, makeup and or hair stylist, and wardrobe stylist. Nothing they wear is a casual choice—it’s guided imagery. We won’t get into aesthetic dermatology or plastic surgery here, for this week’s video gets to the heart of makeup mistakes most of us make, and it’s keyed to us boomer gals. You can take advantage of celebrity makeup tips, too.
We do things the way we’ve always done them, but it never hurts to have a little “refresher course” on how to look even more fabulous.
Go to a makeup pro
To do that, meet Dia Dibble, a highly skilled, no-nonsense makeup artist who’s been doing what she does for 10 years. She’s worked mainly on commercials for some of the biggest brands, as well as on television specials and short films. We all would love to have Dia “do us” before we go out of the house, but alas, it’s impossible. We go it on our own, navigating, as she says, the “hills and valleys” that appear on boomer-gal faces.
Even my makeup prep before a Mind Your Body shoot takes between an hour and 90 minutes, and that’s with the clock ticking. In this video, Dia shows us how to avoid basic mistakes and answers questions like:
- How long should we keep our makeup?
- How important are brushes and how many do we really need?
- How should we use lip liners and lipstick without overdoing it?
- What kind of blush should we use at this age?
Don’t make makeup mistakes
A list of common makeup mistakes include:
- lip color that’s too dark
- plucking eyebrows too thin—and it takes a long time for them to grow back
- not blending your colors
- too much makeup
- foundation that’s too dark or too light
- glitter that settles into those “valleys” (Leave for the youngsters.)
- clumpy or smudgy mascara
Put your best boomer-gal face forward with celebrity makeup tips from my special guest Dia Dibble. You look fabulous, dahling!
