Mind Your Body TV Episode 54 with Dia Dibble.
It’s true, isn’t it? We as women—make that “as human beings”—are instinctively programmed to want to look better and younger. To do that, we need our own signature makeup look. That’s the one we rely on again and again, that works for us with a few alterations or embellishments from time to time, says today’s expert.
We shouldn’t stray (too far) from our signature look when the multibillion-dollar beauty and personal care industry tempts and taunts us with an endless array of products that promise to make positive changes in our appearance. Some do and some are a waste of money—for us with mature skin.
You deserve a celebrity makeup lesson
Magazines feature page-after-page of “new this” and “new that” for us to try, while manufacturers duke it out with retail displays that cause our heads to turn 360° in pharmacy or department store aisles. That’s why I’ve produced a series of videos on make-up for women age 50+. I’m pleased to present Hollywood makeup professional Dia Dibble, who reminds us that more precision and less experimentation are ideal for mature skin.
How the signature makeup look works
To find your signature makeup look, Dibble suggests for eyes:
- Neutral or medium colors—not too light or dark
- No extreme frost, but a hint of shimmer
- Nicely defined brows—no black pencil, please!
Your makeup after wake-up
Don’t wash your face again, but use these products in this order:
- Serum
- Moisturizer (with sunscreen or not)
- Sunscreen (which may be contained in the moisturizer)
- Primer
- Foundation: Make this a liquid, best for aging skin
