If you follow Rick Springfield, you know he’s one very busy and multi-talented guy. I interviewed him in 2014 for Parade.com and was excited to see and hear him at the rocking iHeart80s Party on February 20 at The Forum. If you weren’t there, you can still see the concert, and you’ll want to tune in to DirectTV on March 18.
This singer, songwriter, musician, actor and author has new music, an album entitled Rocket Science from Frontier Music. It’s his 18th studio endeavor.
The first track on the list, the upbeat “Light This Party Up,” was also the opening number in his set of six at The Forum. He’s said he wrote the song for Meryl Streep’s character, Ricki, in the 2015 film, Ricki and the Flash, with Rick as her boyfriend and collaborator.
The song didn’t really work for that purpose, so he kept the tune and now it’s on his latest album. Its energy really will light you up, and you’ll get right into the other songs in this collection.
You can catch Rick in concert this month in Palm Springs, Milwaukee and St. Charles, Illinois.
To refresh yourself on Rick’s accomplishments so far, here’s a cool video retrospective of his life and work. And if you want to “go away” with Rick, he’s hosting a fan getaway in November.
Hope you enjoy this interview with the witty, sensitive and forever handsome Rick Springfield.
And if you weren’t at the iHeart80s Party in person, don’t miss the nationally televised special on the AT&T Audience network on DirectTV on Friday, March 18 at 9 p.m. PT.
