When Americans think of weight loss and fitness, they think of Bob Harper. The longtime trainer is now the host of The Biggest Loser, which is in its 17th season. The show now has a fitting subtitle: Temptation Nation.
For people who want to lose weight, this is must-watch television, every episode, every season.
Harper, 50, has been on the show since 2004, and during that time, he’s seen a lot of contestants come and go. He remains committed to long-term weight loss success. He’s also happy to share his weight loss secrets with me here.
I ask him about fitness trends, the No. 1 tip for losing weight, and about his passion for helping animals, along with much more. His canine pal is “Karl,” adopted from a Los Angeles-area shelter. (Thank you, Bob!)
Focus on the gig picture
He’s enthusiastic and positive, without shouting, and it’s easy to see why he’s been influential in helping so many people—on and off the show—say “bye-bye” to excess pounds while focusing on mind and body fitness and life goals.
If you can’t get enough Harper on The Biggest Loser, pick up one of his best-selling books. The latest, published last year, is Skinny Habits: The 6 Secrets of Thin People. And while you’re watching his show, he’s said that doing some push-ups during the commercial breaks is not a bad idea at all. Ready?
Harper also blogs here at Parade.com, where he recaps the latest episodes and shares tips to use right now. And keep this quote from Harper top of mind when you’re tempted: “You’ve got to make a break. You’ve got to divorce yourself from the past and find a different way of living. And you can never go back.”
